PEarl

Available for Adoption!

Meet Pearl! Decatur, TX | 6 years old | 95 pounds | Big girl with a big heart

Pearl is a beautiful, gentle Old English Sheepdog who’s ready for her next chapter. She’s been a loved family companion and has wonderful manners in the home. She’s house-trained, sleeps near her people, and enjoys being close by.

Pearl is a big girl with a big heart. She enjoys the company of large, friendly male dogs but would do best in a home without small dogs or other females. She’s also not a match for cats. With children, she’s patient and affectionate.

She can be shy at first, but once she warms up, her sweet personality shines through. Pearl is also leash-trained and well-behaved indoors. She’s afraid of loud noises like fireworks or gunshots, so she’ll need a calm, secure home environment.

Pearl is looking for a foster, foster-to-adopt, or adopter who can provide her with love, stability, and companionship. Without fosters, we cannot continue to save dogs like Pearl. If you’ve ever considered fostering or adopting, Pearl would be a wonderful place to start.

Edison

Available for Adoption!

Meet Edison!
5 years old | 111 lbs. | Yukon, OK | Special needs

Edison was an owner surrender. His owner's health was deteriorating, and he could no longer care for him. Sadly, it wasn’t just the owner's health but Edison himself whose health was not good.

Edison has spent quite a bit of time at the vet, having tests run, and trying to figure out what steps were needed to get him back on track to a healthier life.

At only 5 years old, Edison weighed over 130 lbs. He has heartworms, a newly discovered thyroid problem, and to top it off, he is blind.

After pulling Edison’s records from his previous vet, it was discovered that in 2023, he began the treatment to kill the heartworms. The first of three injections was given, and in less than 24 hours, Edison went blind.

Edison has been to an ophthalmologist. He has progressive retinal atrophy. No one really knows if this was caused by the heartworm injection, the heartworms themselves, or if this was simply inherited. What we do know is this cannot be fixed. There is no surgery or miracle eye drops that could help. He will always be blind.

Edison is on a diet and is now down to 111 pounds. He takes thyroid medication twice a day. His heartworms are being treated slowly without the use of injections. We hope he will be heartworm free soon.

Edison is an incredibly smart sheepdog. His blindness does not bother him and he gets around great on his own. He is laid back, funny and a bit stubborn at times. He is completely housebroken and can be left alone in the home without any worries. He loves drinking from a water hose and taking showers.

Edison loves everyone and everyone loves him! He likes other dogs, but super active ones bother him because he can’t see what they are doing.

Don’t let his blindness keep you from adopting this wonderful boy. He is a beautiful sheepdog with the most amazing personality! You would absolutely love him!
